Ever wondered why more and more bridal companies suggest airbrush makeup over traditional? What's the real secret with wedding day makeup anyways?!
I've put together a list of general info, based on my opinion, about each option. I'm not here to say one is better than the other - I personally use traditional on the daily but prefer airbrush for my company.
Here are my thoughts - Keep reading for the ultimate truth!
Foundation can potentially feel "heavy" or "cakey" - as client's have phrased it, this depends on the line your professional chooses and the condition your skin is in.
Coverage last, on average, up to 8 hours before meltdown.
Are you a hugger? It can transfer to clothing
It looks beautiful in photos but can look heavy in person.
Weightless | light weight but offers full coverage.
Allows your skin to breath.
Coverage last, on average, 10-14 hours. Depending on the product.
Looks flawless in person and in photos.
Here's a little more insight to airbrush makeup:
Airbrush makeup allows you to build layers from the fine mist without the client feeling weighted down. I can't tell you how many times we've heard "I want to look like I'm all made up but not feel like I'm wearing 10 pounds of makeup". If that's you, airbrush is the way to go, the feeling is like no other!
Airbrush offers multiple base options such as silicone, water - mineral, or alcohol. It allows you to find the perfect blend for your clients skin needs. Most bridal companies, like us, keep a variety of foundation base options in our kits since it's not a "one size fits all" situation. My absolute favorite part of airbrushing is it is easily customizable and can offer a truer tone than some traditional foundations.
Let's make note of one thing though, airbrush makeup as a whole is not limited to just the foundation - some companies, not us, offer eyes, lips, brows and more to be done via airbrush. For more info on our airbrush services click here.
While airbrush makeup and traditional makeup can be argued in circles about which is most beneficial - the biggest thing, in my opinion is not what type of makeup your artist can offer you.
The big secret and focal point needs to be....
...Your skin care routine. I'm sure you are laughing at the simplicity of that, but it's the truth. Regardless of your choice - traditional or airbrush, creating a hydrated palette is key! That doesn't have to start in a spa, it can start at home. If you haven't read my blog on "Skin care tips for the Bride to be" then do yourself a favor a click that hyperlink!
